The Nikon 1 S2 is an entry-level mirror less camera that is a follow up to the original Nikon 1 S1. The Nikon 1 S1 was launched more than a year ago. The S2 comes with two kit lenses and according to Nikon will cost just over £500.
Specs-wise, the Nikon 1 S2 comes with a 14.2 megapixel CMOS sensor with a sensitivity range of ISO 200–12,800. The auto mode maxes out at ISO 6,400.
Speaking of auto settings, the company’s proprietary advanced hybrid autofocus is also featured in the camera. According, the 135-point autofocus system comes with 73 phase action points enabling the camera to lock on to the subject quickly and accurately.
Despite being targeted at the entry-level market, the Nikon 1 S2 comes with the ability to shoot 10 RAW format pictures at up to 20 frames per second with continuous autofocus.
If you’re brave enough to switch off the autofocus, the camera can manage up to 60fps.
Included with the standard S2 is the Nikkor 11–27.5mm f/3.5–5.6 zoom lens. That package will retail for £379.99 when it launches next month. There will also be an extended edition with the Nikkor 30–110mm lens available for £579.99.
The camera itself will be available in black, white, red and yellow. However, the lenses will only be available in black and white.
